Charles Wong Tze Chau 

I have loved art since I was young, and my background in architecture has kept me closely connected to the world of art and design. In 2010, I began painting seriously, inspired by the philosophy of Friedrich Schiller. He believed that the creative arts have the power to transform the human spirit—and I was curious to explore how that transformation unfolds. 

Since 2011, I have participated in group exhibitions in Singapore, Thailand, and India. A significant breakthrough came in 2018 with my first solo exhibition at a commercial gallery in Singapore. After two previous attempts, I was overjoyed to win the UOB Painting of the Year (Established Artist Category) in 2019.

I strongly believe in the transformative power of art. My goal is to create works that are both visually captivating and intellectually engaging—pieces that invite reflection and dialogue.

At the heart of my artistic practice is the desire to build bridges between different realms—between cultures, philosophies, and inner and outer worlds. In an increasingly divided world, I hold onto the belief that harmony is possible if we are willing to see beyond our differences.

The ancient concept of Oneness has always fascinated me. I believe all beings are interconnected through a deep, often unseen interdependence. When we peel away masks and surface identities, we uncover a shared core that unites us.

To me, the duality of Yin and Yang evolves from this Oneness—and, eventually, returns to it. This cyclical nature of unity and duality continues to inspire my work and my worldview.
